Plans, organizes and provides supervision and oversight for assigned recreation activities, services, facilities, special events, classes, field trips and programs; recruits, trains, supervises and evaluates subordinate professional and paraprofessional recreation workers and volunteers; develops schedules, registration processes and fees for recreation services; conducts outreach and marketing activities with users, donors, sponsors and community groups.
This position manages the operations of the Paris Aquatic Center and the Sports Complex, including girls softball.
Management includes preparing daily cash report, hiring and training of part-time staff, creating schedules and preparing payroll, budget monitoring, and preparing purchase requisitions.
Position is responsible for researching the need/want for new programs as well as implementation of those programs.
Qualifications High school diploma/GED required.
Graduation from a four-year college or university with major coursework in recreation administration, physical education, leisure services or a related field preferred and five years of professional recreation experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job as listed above.
Valid Class C driver' license required.
Must possess or obtain a National Swimming Pool Foundation Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certificate or a National Recreation and Park Association Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) certification within six months of employment.
Must possess obtain current CPR/AED certification within six months of employment.
Valid class C Texas driver's license required.
Special Requirements Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer, and to attend meetings at various sites within and away from the City, and have availability to work off-hours shifts or events as required; strength to lift and carry materials weighing to 40 pounds; mobility to lead groups in activities involving steep or rough terrain; ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather and temperature conditions; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.
